We’ve just completed a four-year investment programme that’s transformed our capabilities. Here’s what it means for you.
Staying ahead in electronics manufacturing
In electronics manufacturing, standing still means falling behind. Technology evolves, products become more complex, regulatory standards tighten, and the pressure to get to market faster intensifies.
We’ve always prided ourselves on being a partner you can rely on – one that handles everything from concept design through to manufacture without dropping the ball. But to keep delivering on that promise at the highest level, we needed to invest.
£1.2m across equipment, facilities and people
Over the past four years, we’ve made significant investments in three key areas:
World-class manufacturing equipment
Our production suite now includes:
- Europlacer ii-P7 paste screen printers and Hanwha SM482PLUS surface mount machines for greater accuracy and component density
- A Heller 1810 MK7 10-zone reflow oven that gives us better temperature control and higher first-pass yields on complex assemblies
- A Unicomp AX8200max X-ray machine that validates our process and catches issues invisible to the naked eye
- A Mirtec MV-3 OMNI 3D AOI machine that inspects every assembly for missing components, incorrect orientations, lifted parts and poorly formed solder joints
The results speak for themselves: we’re now delivering a yield of over 99.6% with a return rate of just 0.2%.
Upgraded premises
We’ve redeveloped our facilities to maximise efficiency and quality:
- In-house nitrogen generation equipment (unusual for a company our size)
- Electrostatic discharge (ESD) flooring throughout all manufacturing areas
- A dedicated test room
- Reconfigured workshop layout with a new lift that’s increased our usable space and production capacity
Investment in our team
In 2025 we invested £35k on staff development, including IPC training for our entire manufacturing team, delivered by our internal IPC trainer.
Most companies have one or two people with IPC certification. We’ve certified our entire manufacturing team to IPC-A-610 (acceptability of electronic assemblies), IPC J-STD-001 (soldered electrical and electronic assemblies) and IPC-7711/7721 (rework and repair).
We’ve also grown our team to 32 people, bringing on two new design engineers, a technical project manager, and additional production staff in 2025.
What this means for your project
When you work with Electrica, you benefit from:
Faster turnarounds – increased capacity and efficiency mean we can move your project through production even quicker
Higher reliability – our enhanced inspection capabilities catch problems before they reach you, and our process improvements have driven our return rate down to 0.2%
Better products – because we design for our own manufacturing process, we eliminate the friction and delays that come from working with multiple suppliers
Complete confidence – you can see we’re willing to invest at a level that’s unusual for an SME because we’re committed to staying ahead of the curve
And we’re not done yet
We’re already planning our next phase of investment. Because this is what it takes to deliver on our promise: bringing technical depth, reliability and a straight-talking approach that makes your life easier, not harder.
